THE STORY BEHIND STAR POWER

From World-Class Performance to the Principles of Captivation

Most communication coaches study communication. I spent more than 30 years studying what makes audiences remember one performer while forgetting another.

As a Grammy-featured artist, internationally acclaimed opera singer, and former U.S. Army Field Band soloist, I learned that opportunities rarely go to the most technically gifted performer.

They go to the performer who captures attention, earns trust, creates connection, and leaves an audience wanting more.

Today, I help executives, entrepreneurs, leaders, and speakers apply those same principles through the STAR POWER Method — helping them become captivating communicators who get rebooked, referred, and remembered.

IChapter One

The Audition That Changed Everything

Early in my career, I had the privilege of sitting beside one of the world’s great artistic directors, Darren Keith Woods, during auditions in New York City.

Singer after singer walked into the room. Each had spent years mastering their craft — extraordinary voices, exceptional technique, years of training. On paper, they were all qualified.

Yet something fascinating happened. Only a handful truly captivated the room. It wasn’t just their voice. It wasn’t simply their technique. It was something deeper — they captured attention, created connection, moved people emotionally.

What makes one performer unforgettable while another—equally talented—is quickly forgotten?

IIChapter Two

Thirty Years Searching for the Answer

That question became the pursuit of my life’s work. For more than 30 years, I performed on some of the world’s most respected stages as an internationally acclaimed opera singer, Grammy-featured artist, and soloist with the United States Army Field Band.

I performed alongside Broadway artists, celebrated musicians, military ensembles, and world-class performers before millions of Americans. Every performance became another opportunity to study audiences — not just what they heard, but what they felt.

I wasn’t simply developing my voice. I was discovering the principles of captivation.

IIIChapter Three

The Unexpected Discovery

For years, I believed I was building a career as a performer. Looking back, I realized something much bigger was happening — I wasn’t simply learning how to perform. I was studying the psychology of captivation.

Then I realized something that changed everything: those same principles determine success far beyond the stage — for leaders, executives, entrepreneurs, and speakers.

You don’t simply need to communicate. You need to captivate.

IVChapter Four

Why I Created STAR POWER

For decades, I believed I was building a career as a performer. Looking back, I realized I was studying something far more valuable: the principles that cause people to pay attention, build trust, create emotional connection, and remember someone long after they’ve left the stage.

Attention. Trust. Connection. Influence. Memorability — that progression is what turned decades of performance experience into a framework I could teach.

You don’t simply need to communicate. You need to captivate.

That’s why I created STAR POWER — a practical framework that transforms the principles of world-class performance into unforgettable leadership and communication.

VChapter Five

From the Stage to the Boardroom

The lessons I learned on the world’s greatest stages didn’t stay in the theater. They became the foundation of my work with executives, entrepreneurs, speakers, and organizations who understand that influence begins long before the first slide appears or the first word is spoken.

Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of:

✦ Sharing insights on national television, podcasts, and interviews
✦ Speaking alongside world-renowned thought leaders and industry experts
✦ Co-authoring a bestselling book with a foreword by Les Brown
✦ Speaking at conferences, corporate events, and leadership programs across the country
✦ Coaching executives, entrepreneurs, and speakers to communicate with greater influence and impact

My mission remains the same: to help people create experiences audiences remember.
